Hadi Afarideh
Hadi Afarideh, born in Tehran, started his artistic career in 1998.He’s currently an active member of the Short Film Society in the House of Cinema and also a member of Iranian Documentary Makers Association in the House of Cinema.
Director's Biography : Hadi Afarideh, born in Tehran, started his artistic career in 1998 as a theatre playwright and director. Since then he has worked with well-known theatre directors such as Dr Ghotbeddin Sadeghi, Behzad Farahani, Hadi Marzban, Mikael Shahrestani, etc.
He started his filmmaking career in 2001 through the Iranian Youth Cinema’s Association –based in Tehran. He has since accomplished different photography and casting projects in more than 50 short films & documentaries. he also collaborated with Witt Helmer in selecting Iranian actors for the German director’s big cinematic project;
He was named the Best Documentary Maker at the first specialized Iranian Documentary Makers’ Workshop (2006), held by the Iranian Documentary Makers Association & the Documentary & Experimental Film Centre;
By the end of 2009, his films were screened in more than 50 national & international film festivals; in these festivals, he won different awards & prizes for 3 of his feature short films (The Orange, The Whistle, The Father) & five of his short & semi-long documentaries (The Baghcheban’s Children, Under the Pine Trees, The Morning Ceremony, The Story of Gordafarid, The Memory of Niavaran).
Afarideh has also written several feature & documentary film scripts, including the award winning scripts such as A Season of Rain, ???
He’s written critiques on his country’s short films & documentaries in different art & culture magazines & websites.
He was a member of the selection committee and the jury of Bagh Ferdow’s Week of Cinema (2008)
He was also a member of the selection committee for the 12th Annual Celebration of the Iranian House of Cinema (Experimental and Feature Short Films’ section), member of the jury for the DEFC’s 2nd Image of Ashoora symposium in 2008.
He’s currently an active member of the Short Film Society in the House of Cinema and also a member of Iranian Documentary Makers Association in the House of Cinema.

Synopsis : On December 15th, 1979, The last Persian king, Mohammad Reza Pahlavi, left Iran with his queen & family following nationwide unrest & protests.
Nearly 20 days afterwards, on February 1st, Ayatollah Khomeini returned to his homeland and under his leadership, more than 2500 years of monarchy came to an end with the Islamic Revolution in 1979.
Since his arrival, Imam Khomeini was determined to establish his own administration; so the revolutionary forces took over all ministeries, governmental organisations, houses & royal palaces that formerly belonged to the Shah & his companions.
This documentary is going to review –after 30 years- the events leading to the overtaking of the Shah’s most important palace, Niavaran.

Synopsis : Naqali (Musical Narration) is an Iranian traditional solo theatre in which only men are allowed to perform. As a matter of fact, it's been forbidden for women to appear in a Naqali performance. The place for this theatre has usually been teahouses & public squares. A Naqali play is called a Scroll. The Scrolls are derived from ancient legends or historical stories, as well as Shahnameh (The Book of Kings), written by the greatest Iranian epic writer, Ferdowsi, who is widely classified along with Homer. This documentary recounts the story of the very first female Naqal in Persian history, Fatemeh Habibizad, aka Gordafarid.
