The primary purpose of the festival is to promote the production and spread the knowledge of short movies.
Moreover, every year the festival is caratherised by a theme.
The theme of 2009 is Folly & Madness. Directors are invited to express their personal point of view on this subject.

THE NEW ENTRY FORM IS ONLINE!
The new entry form for the 8th edition of Reggio Film Festival is now available on-line. The theme for this year will be Folly & Madness.
The deadline to submit your work is June 30th 2009. The festival is taking place in September.
The other sections for this edition are Not one less, connected to schools of any level, and Open Category, for all works without any theme restriction.
OFFICIAL RULES
1. Announcing the 8th Reggio Film Festival.
2. The competition is open to all filmmakers and includes the following sections:
Folly and Madness - open to short-movies related to the theme of 12 minutes or less
Open Category - not limited to a theme, open to short-movies of 20 minutes or less
Mondinpiazza - open to short-movies about intercultural dialogue, of 12 minutes or less
Not one less - open to short-movies about intercultural dialogue in educational environments, of 12 minutes or less, made by schools of any level
3. Movies must be sent in DVD format and will not be returned.
4. There is no cost for applying and submit works.
5. It's mandatory to send a copy with English or Italian subtitles (to be selected as a separate track on the disk), and/or a dialogue list complete with timecode.
6. The DVD must be sent along with the application and (optional) a few photos from the movie. The deadline for section Mondinpiazza is the 31st of March. The deadline for all other sections is the 30th of June (the postal print is a proof). Send the DVD to the following address:

7. The festival organizing committee will select the movies that will be shown, chosing the right section for each movie.
8. The committee reserves the right to use the films for other non-profit and cultural purposes, provided that the copyright remains with the author.
9. The movies sent to the committee will be included in the audiovisual database of Reggio Film Festival and University of Modena and Reggio. The organizers are committed not to use the works for commercial purposes.
10. The following prizes will be assigned:
- First Prize of 2000 euro for the best short-film about the theme Folly and Madness
- Not one less Prize of 1000 euro for the best short film made by schools of any level about the theme of intercultural dialogue in educational environments
- Children Prize for the best short-film related to childhood theme
- Zavattini award offered by ARCI-UCCA to the best short-movies made in the style of Cesare Zavattini
- People's choice award for the best short-movie in the Open Category section voted by the Reggio Film Festival audience
11. All filmmakers entering the Film Festival will receive the festival program and the awards-winners will be contacted by phone or e-mail. For info about your entry please contact the artistic direction or check the official website.
