"Stop Thinking - Start Living - Start Doing"
Kenny was born in Barnsley, South Yorkshire, UK, an ex-mining town near Sheffield. It was also the setting for Ken Loach’s 1969 film “Kes”, “essential viewing and reading for all schools in the area.” It also proved to be inspirational for Kenny, and started his love for telling stories through film.
Kenny trained as an actor at The Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London and has worked extensively in Film and TV. You Me and Captain Longbridge is Kenny’s directing debut.
As an actor Kenny starred as Andie MacDowell’s young lover in the feature film CRUSH, played ‘Sir Thomas Elliot’ in ELIZABETH, ‘Quintus’ in TITUS and will soon be seen in THE ARYAN COUPLE (for which he recently won the Best Actor award at the Palm Beach Film Festival) opposite his wife Caroline Carver, Martin Landau, Judy Parfitt and Steven Mackintosh, MY FIRST WEDDING opposite Rachel Leigh Cook and in Miramax’s THE GREAT RAID opposite Benjamin Bratt, James Franco, Joseph Fiennes and Connie Nielsen.
John Daly, who directed THE ARYAN COUPLE comments: “I saw Kenny Doughty in a film he had just completed called MY FIRST WEDDING. The camera couldn’t leave him alone. When he appeared on the screen your eye went right to him and he has a remarkable freshness. To me he is like a young Dirk Bogarde and I had no doubts that if he was available, he was the actor I wanted.”
Kenny’s film credits include: OUTLAWS, CITY RATS, IRREVERSI, THE ARYAN COUPLE; MY FIRST WEDDING; THE GREAT RAID; CRUSH; TITUS, ELIZABETH and I WANT YOU
