About Me

I am the foreign relationship coordinator of the Ferenc Faludi Academy. I'm responsible of making new connections to other cultural and educational institutes of Europe and other other parts of the world. One of the main events, organized by the Academy, is the film festival, it is going to be the 13. time that we announce it. Three years ago we made it international, but we had several presidents of jury from all around Europe previously as well, eg. our guest was Krysztof Zanussi director, Jim McDonell president of SIGNIS, Jacek Petrycki cinematographer and Francesco Casetti film theoretician.

In these years we received many quality films from young filmmakers both from ones who had professional training and from those who had not. But the Academy provides training courses, and summer camps for young adults where they can learn the basics of film-making (unfortunately we don't have them jet in English). Our aim is to help and provide opportunities for those who want to make valuable independent films.

The festival is thematic, we are waiting film in a given theme in each year, previously there were titles like Sacrifice, Grace, Walking on the Water. The theme of this year is "Trust".

The Photo Competiton is a brand new experiment, since this is the first year we organize it together with the film festival under the same theme. But we hope that it will be at least as successful as the film part. We are going to have an exhibiton from the best pictures in the Uránia National Theatre and the works will be evaluated by a professional panel.

"TRUST" Faludi International Youth Film Festival and Photo Competition 2008.

 

14-15. November 2008.Uránia National Film Theatre Budapest, Hungary

 

The Ferenc Faludi Academy announces its XIII. thematic international youth film festival and a photo competition in connection. The competitors can process the theme “Trust” in the form of film or photo according to the conditions of the festival. We are looking for professionally demanding elaborated works which are suitable for creating a forum, in the language of pictures, for the dialogue of different viewpoints and opinions.

 

Deadline for entries: 20. October 2008

Attila Mispál director, András Nagy cinematographer

Pupi Avati director

 

Members of the photo jury:

Imre Drégely, László Haris, Béla Körtési, Zoltán Móser photographers

 

Prizes in the value of: 6800 EUR

 

The films will be evaluated and awarded by the National Student Jury as well.

 

FILM

 

For the film festival primarily we are waiting for the application of young non-professional and film university student, filmmakers or creative communities, but we have no age restrictions. Everybody can apply with the maximum of 2 films. Application for the film and to the photo competition section is completely independent from each other.

- One can apply in the categories of short feature film, experimental or documentary.

- The length of each work must not exceed 16 minutes, except from the films of film university students if the film was made during their studies for them the time limit is: 30 minutes.

- The works have to be submitted on one DVD (for pre-evaluation) and one screening copy (AVI, DVCam, DV, HDV, DVD).

- Similarly to last year, this year we are happy again to receive films by students from film and visual arts studies, which will be evaluated in a special category by the panel.

- On the decision of the pre-jury the films not included in the competition program will be shown on an informative screening.

- The entry is free!

 

PHOTO

 

For the photo competition primarily we are waiting for the application of young non-professional and university student photographers or creative communities, but we have no age restrictions. Everybody can apply with the maximum of 3 photos. Application for the film and to the photo competition section is completely independent from each other.

- One can apply with B&W or colored pictures made with digital or traditional (analogue) technique.

- One must hand in one blow-up copy of each photo in the size of: 18 cm x 24 cm and on CD as well in resolution 300 dpi.

- In case of series the number of pictures cannot be more than five, but the creator can apply only with one series.

- The jury evaluates and remunerates the works of art university students in a separate section.

- The pictures selected by the pre-jury will be on exhibition in the Uránia National Film Theatre until 30. November, the pictures not selected for competitions will be presented on our website.

- The entry is free!
