Detective Adrian Manx, an agent for the FBI with a license to kill--code-name “Gila Monster”—working undercover inside the DC Police Department, is in an apartment building to investigate a murder that may blow the lid off a case against a local drug-czar, suspected of several high profile murders, drug trafficking, and obstruction of justice. On his way up to interrogate witnesses, he meets Sylvia Trench, a distraught beautiful black woman, left alone on New Year’s Eve. Adrian and Sylvia, strangely attracted, perhaps for emotional reasons, entangle themselves in a sexual encounter on the elevator, a decision Adrian Manx lives to regrets. (more)
