INPUT is a global, voluntary organisation set up by television professionals for television professionals - centered around the yearly screening conference. The aim is to showcase, inspire and lead television programmes in the public service. An independent organisation with many international links, INPUT relies on the voluntary work of its members. Contributions of broadcasters and the conference entry fee allow INPUT to remain inclusive and maintain its steadily growing global outreach.
INPUT was born during a conference organized by CIRCOM (the European Association of Regional Television) and the Rockefeller Foundation in Bellagio, Italy in 1978. The founders at the Conference determined the need of an international exchange of quality programmes and ideas between North America and Europe. The need for that exchange continues to be the prior input aim, but now the challenge is extended to many other countries and regions in the world. Today INPUT includes participants and programmes from all continents. This geographical interest and expansion allows delegates to view a multitude of programmes, representing the wider expression of audiovisual cultures.
INPUT screens TV programs that are innovative, original, unusual, controversial, courageous or experimental in form and content.
