Valdivia International Film Festival (FIC Valdivia) screens International and domestic films of all lengths and genres in competitive categories and features a Film Schools Short Film Competition for Chilean Institutions by Chilean or Latin American directors. The festival is organized by Austral University of Chile (UACH) and produced by Valdivia Cultural Center for Film Promotion (CPCV).
FIC Valdivia also presents a series of activities parallel to its international contest including a Business Forum that each year aspires to gather international sales agents, distribution and board directors of foundations to establish commercial and cooperation ties with chilean producers.
The 2011 Jury at FIC Valdivia, 18th Valdivia International Film Festival, will award prizes in the following official categories:

The organization of the event opens this areas of contest to anyone that wants to produce a modern piece of advertising with elements related with cinema and Valdivia. The jury will be composed by two professionals with a reconginzed carrer in the audiovisual industry and a third member will be Guido Mutis, the Director of the Valdivia International Film Festival. The jury's decision cannot be appealed and the final choise will depend on the quality of the work presented.
The winner will receive, as awards, one Pudu, the highest award granted by the organization; the complete stay for two people during the event; ten 35mm cans, offered by Kodak Chile and US 1500 in image and sound postproduction services, granted by Atomica. The award will be presented during the inaugural ceremony of the International Film Festival, on October 3rd.
Participants have to send 3 DVD copies of the commercial ad, each copy must indicate the participant's personal data. The reception of pieces finish on July 14th and the announcement of the winner will happen through our website on July 18th.
The winning commercial will be broadcast through Television Nacional de Chile, the official channel of the event, as well as on the FICV website and associate portals.

For this ocation, we received over 150 work pieces from Colombia, Ecuador, Argentina, Germany and Chile.
Fernanda Ortiz Neira is a design student of Santiago and she participated with an image that reproduces the city of Valdivia and its relation with films. She won 1000 euros and her poster will be reproduced in posters, catalogues and in every paperwork to promote the Film Festival.
Eligible works must have been finished January 2007 or later.
Films must be registered through our electronic entry form available at our website. Besides, filmmakers must submit a copy in DVD format (NTSC or PAL), spoken or subtitled in Spanish, for the pre- selection process.
No work that has participated in the pre-selection process, or as an official selection of previous versions of the Valdivia International Film Festival will be accepted.
The final date of registration, as well as for reception of the material in DVD format, along with all information required for the pre-selection process in both Spanish and English, is june 13, 2008; this is the FINAL DEADLINE.
Film selection will be informed by email to the applicant beginning July 27,2008.

The Organization of 14th Valdivia International Film Festival have announced that is open for film competition entries. This year's festival will take place from October 5th to 10th. Regulations and submission form are available on the Festival's web site http://www.ficv.cl in English and Spanish.
The Official competition categories are: Feature Film, Short Film, Documentary, Regional Video and Young People. This last one category is focused on foreign or Chilean productions developed by young (up to 30 years old) filmmakers.
In order to improve foreign and Chilean participation, the organizing team emphasized that this year the regulations has changed, merging some categories.
The required materials must be sent to the Valdivia International Film Festival address: 14th Festival Internacional de Cine de Valdivia 2007 – Centro de Promoción Cinematográfica de Valdivia, Vicente Pérez Rosales 787, Oficina E, Código Postal 5110652, Valdivia, Chile.
In order to enter the competition, submission forms (fulfilled both in Spanish and in English), and film copies (DVD) must be sent to the Valdivia International Film Festival address by July 13th, 2007.
SELECTION
Selected movies and videos for competition will be informed starting August 27th, 2007 by telephone, fax or e-mail.
The original copies of the selected materials should reach Valdivia no later than September 27th 2007. All materials received have to meet the general and pre-selection requirements, otherwise will be send back to the sender.
14th Valdivia International Film Festival is organized by Universidad Austral de Chile (Austral University of Valdivia), produced by Centro Cultural de Promoción Cinematográfica de Valdivia (Cultural Centre for Cinematographic Promotion of Valdivia), and invited by Ilustre Municipalidad de Valdivia (Valdivia City Hall).
