up-and-coming Int. Film Festival Hannover is an international competition for young film makers. It takes place every two years (odd years) in Hannover, targeting young people up to the age of 27. The u-a-c festival initiates support for these young ambitious artists while they are still in this highly motivated and enthusiastic age group. The festival screens Experimental and Artistic Film, Video and New Media of all genres. The festival screens in Germany and then does an 8 city tour in China.
All selected films are screened at the u-a-c festival in various programs where each film and its makers are introduced by the festival presenters. The members of the national and international jury view all films along with the audience for the first time.Former members of the international festival jury (a.o.): David Larcher (film maker, England), Meenakshi Shedde (author, film critic TIMES OF INDIA), Solange Oliveira Farkas (head of the International Electronic Art Festival VideoBrasil, São Paulo; director des Museum of Modern Art, Salvador de Bahia) and Grahame Weinbren (film maker, New York).
In 1982 the festival first ran its projectors under the name ‚First Federal Film Festival for Pupils’ in Hannover, Germany. Since then the festival has established its own international network linking 61 countries into a world-wide forum for young film makers.
