Festival Description:

The Taipei Film Festival is an annual multi-cultural event containing film festival and other film culture-related activities held by the Taipei City Government and mapped out by the Department of Cultural Affairs.

Taipei Film Festival is one of the most important and high-profile international cultural events in Taiwan . The festival screens about 120 films from over 40 countries worldwide annually. With approximately 100,000 attendants each year, its majority is made up of a decidedly young audience. The festival attracts not only moviegoers but also film professionals. It has been recognized as the most influential showcase of international cinema for local film distributors in Taiwan.

The competitive section consists of both the National Competition for local independent filmmakers (with a Grand Prize for this award of NT$1,000,000) and the International New Talent Competition which encourages young and talented filmmakers to make their directorial debuts at TFF, while providing a platform for new innovative voices from all over the world. The Grand Prize for this award is NT$1,000,000 (approximately USD$30, 000).

The non-competitive section features the recent works of new directors in feature, documentary, experimental, shorts and animation films. "City Vision", a special non-competition section, focuses on one (or 2) cities every year and introduces its films and culture to the audience in Taiwan .
