The St. John’s International Women’s Film Festival was established to support and promote women filmmakers through an annual film festival and various satellite events. Its week-long screening series of about 90 works by women directors, producers and writers also features a workshop/seminar series (for filmmakers, the general public and youth), industry forum, galas, receptions and other networking events. This dynamic event attracts thousands of film industry players and enthusiasts from around Canada, and the world.
The festival screens films of all lengths, topics and genre - the only stipulation is that the film must be either written, directed and/or produced by a woman though Male / female collaborations are welcome.
The Festival is committed to searching out, promoting and exhibiting exceptional films and videos made by women; providing the public, filmmakers and other film professionals from Canada and abroad an opportunity to see and discuss these works; creating a marketplace where filmmakers and buyers can conduct business; and supporting and stimulating regional production. St. John’s International Women’s Film Festival is produced by St. John’s International Women’s Film and Video Festival Inc., a provincially registered, non-profit organization located in St. John’s, NL, Canada.
