  • Here's the thing about the SFJFF - there is a clear bias towards films that are live action. Politically, the stuff is always diverse and nicely topical and thought provoking but there are folks working in animation, for example, on films that cover same topics and you will not see those films at the festival. What animation they show is traditional cartoon-like stuff. It would be fantastic if the festival really opened up their minds a bit more to film as the art form it is. Perhaps the executive staff or those who choose what to show should take a course in a history and survey of animation so that it can better adhere to its own mission. For a film festival to be so ignorant about the art form itself is really a shame shame shame!
