The SXSW FILM CONFERENCE AND FESTIVAL explores all aspects of the art and business of independent filmmaking. The Conference hosts a five-day adventure in the latest filmmaking trends and new technology, featuring distinguished speakers and mentors. The internationally-acclaimed, nine-day Festival boasts some of the most wide-ranging programming of any US event of its kind, from provocative documentaries to subversive Hollywood comedies, with a special focus on emerging talents.

SXSW has gained accolades for the quality of our programming, which focuses on both emerging talent and cinematic greats. Thousands of film fans, industry, press, and more descend upon SXSW every March to discover the best in new indie and indie-mind film.
With over 250 films, including innovative narrative and documentary features; narrative, documentary, animated, and experimental shorts; music videos; and midnight films, there’s plenty to satisfy every film lover.
A big part of every SXSW Film Festival are the panels held at the Austin Convention Center. The panels at SXSW have been hailed as some of the most extensive and educational forums found in a festival setting. The business and art of making films come together in a unique environment only SXSW could provide. SXSW takes advantage of the convergence of the Film and Interactive worlds by offering joint panel sessions, trade shows and parties.There are also one-on-one mentor sessions and mini-meetings to offer even greater insight into select topics.
The Film and Interactive Trade Show + Exhibition reveals tools for development and productivity employed by digital creatives and filmmakers alike. Also represented are the regional, national and international companies that come together to promote their services and organizations supporting independent filmmaking and digital culture.
