  • Festival Description:

Planet in Focus is Canada’s most acclaimed International Environmental Film and Video festival promoting the use of film and video to frame and explore social and ecological focal points, and as a catalyst for awareness, discussion and action.

With this ethos on the sleeve, PiF strives to screen the most creative, insightful, and inspirational programming available, while reaching out warmly to both new and traditional audiences. PiF aims to create a welcoming and energized forum where environmental art, science, industry and activism can come together.

PiF showcases compelling documentaries, animation, dramatic features, shorts, and experimental works that celebrate, question, and establish varied ways of viewing the state of our world, that critically examine the concept of 'environment' and challenge current human/nature relations.

The festival is complemented by year round programming with a hands-on video workshop for youth, the Cross-Canada Tour and other special events. Each day’s program features pre and post-screening discussions, panels, workshops and networking events, designed to further engage with the films’ subjects, and foster dialogue and community amongst audiences, filmmakers and broadcasters.

The festivals main event takes place in Toronto and then continues on to tour with its slate of films reaching another 25,000 audience members.
