NatFilm Festival is the largest film festival in Denmark, traveling to four Danish cities - Copenhagen, Aarhus, Odense and Kolding, gathering the Danish press, film industry and more than 35,000 audiences each spring.
All cinemas in Copenhagen and the three supporting cities will participate in the festival and present a program consisting of the best, most innovative and most diverse films from around the globe. The festival screens filmmaker newcomers and veterans alike, Danish previews and Italian underground, cutting edge Hong Kong and American Independent.
NatFilm Festival serves as an important platform for domestic distributors, who promote everything from Hollywood releases to cutting-edge films. The bulk of the program does however consist of titles not (yet) picked up for Danish distribution. All Danish buyers are represented at the festival looking for titles to import to Danish cinema, dvd and tv distribution.
The NatFilm Festival is covered in all media in Denmark both electronic and print. This means daily coverage in all major newspapers as well as a vast amount of radio and TV exposure.
All participating films without a prior distribution deal for Denmark compete for the NatFilm Festival Distribution Award of 125.000 DKK (app. 18.000 Euro) - earmarked for the theatrical release of the winning film in Denmark. The award winner is based on audience votes.
Ten films from the program will be nominated for the Critics' Award which is a cash prize of 3.000 Euro for the director of the film. Only first or second features are selectable.
NATFILM is now: CPH:PIX - Denmark's new feature film festival
CPH:PIX unspooled for the first time in Copenhagen in 2009. CPH:PIX draws on the experienced teams from the city's long-running film festivals, the NatFilm Festival and the Copenhagen International Film Festival, which are now merged into one. CPH:PIX will set a new standard for film festivals in Denmark. A new festival needs a new name - ideally a distinctive one. A name one remembers, a name which gives rise to more associations the more it's used. A name, which reflects the times we live in and is open to things yet to come. CPH:PIX will focus on new talents and artistic bravery, both in the festival's film program and in its collaborations across artistic genres and cultural institutions.
CPH:PIX will present the Copenhagen audience with unique film experiences in all genres from all over the world, seasoned with exciting international events and a significant competition program. The artistic profile of the festival will be drawn up by Festival Director Jacob Neiiendam and Head of Programming Niels Lind Larsen, in collaboration with Mikkel Harder, Managing Director of the newly established festival organisation Copenhagen Film Festivals.
