MIFF (Milan International Film Festival), is an international cinema exhibition. Each year, MIFF selects an eclectic pool of exceptional Independent films from all over the world, and exhibits them during its program in Milan, Italy.
Founded in 2000, MIFF was conceived with a steadfast mission to encourage and support the progress of independent films from around the globe. MIFF continues its commitment to fostering films that reflect the best of the indie spirit. MIFF also showcases a selection of winning and best received works of the year’s Milan competition during the annual “MIFF’s Best” celebration at the Italian Cultural Institute in Los Angeles, thereby facilitating further exposure for the awarded films in Hollywood territory.
Apart from MIFF’s commitment to illuminate excellent independent productions from the world over, MIFF is dedicated to promoting the glamour and history of its host city of Milan. In order to further represent the city of Milan, well-known as the Capital of Fashion, MIFF launched in its Fashion Opera Prima, a fashion competition for young designers to be given a chance for their first runway show sponsored by the festival.
From its inception, MIFF successfully presented some of the best Independent productions from around the world. Referring to Sundance, Cannes, Venice or Berlin as a role model, MIFF is the representative international film festival in the city of Milan.
