Since 2000, started from three motivations “Freedom, Independence and Communication,” Jeonju International Film Festival now announces its 9th festival in Joenju, one of the most beautiful cities in Korea. For 9 days, the public will meet more than 180 films. Admitted are all films and videos of all genres more than 60minutes. However, entry is limited only for fictions and documentaries.
The programs of JIFF are composed of one international competition section as well as some out of competition sections along with other distinguishable sidebar programs.

Awards given out by the Jeonju International Film Festival are as follows:
Woosuk Award : Chosen from the "Indie Vision" Section, an independent feature film from around the world which best embodies the spirit in filmmaking activity and paves the way for contemporary cinema will receive the 'Woosuk Award' and a cash prize of USD 10,000.
JIFF Favorites : To express their genuine support for alternative films, the audience of JIFF will select their favorite film shown in "Cinemascape" and "Cinema Palace" section, and present the ‘Jeonju Favorites’ along with precious local gifts.
Netpac Award : It will be given to the best Asian film screened in JIFF by the NETPAC Organization committee.
At least more than five film experts including foreign figures are entrusted to the festival jury of the competitive section.
