  • Festival Description:

    Started from three motivations “Freedom, Independence and Communication,” Jeonju International Film Festival (JIFF) is located in Joenju, the traditional city of Korea and one of its most beautiful cities. JIFF is now recognized as one of the most important film festivals in Asia that introduces Independent and Experimental films from around the world. JIFF's diverse program consists of 180 films from approximately 40 countries. It accepts submissions for feature films including fiction, documentaries, animations, and experimental films.

    The programs of JIFF are composed of one international competition section as well as some out of competition sections along with other distinguishable sidebar programs.

    Awards given out by the Jeonju International Film Festival are as follows:

    Woosuk Award : Chosen from the "Indie Vision" Section, an independent feature film from around the world which best embodies the spirit in filmmaking activity and paves the way for contemporary cinema will receive the 'Woosuk Award' and a cash prize of USD 10,000.

    JIFF Favorites : To express their genuine support for alternative films, the audience of JIFF will select their favorite film shown in "Cinemascape" and "Cinema Palace" section, and present the ‘Jeonju Favorites’ along with precious local gifts.

    Netpac Award : It will be given to the best Asian film screened in JIFF by the NETPAC Organization committee.

    At least more than five film experts including foreign figures are entrusted to the festival jury of the competitive section.
