    I Castelli Animati, international animated film festival. presents the best of world animation in one great event: films produced by over 400 companies in 40 countries world-wide. Short films, TV series, features, commercials, music videos, special effects for film, animation for the web…Meetings and events with the greatest Italian and international authors, live performances, shows, workshops, conferences, professional meetings, exhibitions, animation workshops … A unique opportunity to explore the universe of animated film.

    The world’s greatest artists animate the Festival, including many Oscar-winners and prize-winners in the top international festivals: Bruno Bozzetto, John Canemaker, John Dilworth, Paul Driessen, David Fine and Alison Snowden, Giulio Gianini and Emanuele Luzzati, Joan Gratz, Daniel Greaves, Oscar Grillo, Peter Lord, Michel Ocelot, Priit Parn, Nick Park, Jimmy Picker, Jan Pinkava, Bill Plympton, Joanna Quinn, Gitanjali Rao, Borge Ring, Nelson Shin, David Silverman, Isao Takahata, Wendy Tilby, Gianluigi Toccafondo, and many more...

    Participation in the Competition is free of charge and is open to all animated short films with a maximum running time of 40', using any kind of animation technique - as long as it is coherent with the definition given of animated products by the Association International du Film d'Animation (ASIFA). Television series, advertisement shorts, animated logos and suchlike are excluded from the Competition. Works that have already participated in other festivals will be accepted .

    Awards:

    Short films: I Castelli Animati Grand Prize to the best work in Competition; Special Jury Prize; Prize for Best First Film; Prize for Best European Film; Prize for the Best Italian Film; Prize for Best Non-Narrative Film; The Jury may also assign three special mentions to underline specific qualities of three films in the Competition. An Audience Prize will also be awarded. The winning films of the International Competition, if of European production, will take part, by right, in the selection for the Cartoon D'Or award.

    Best Commercial

    Diploma films: Grand Prize Italian Schools of Animations;

    Special Jury Prize. The Jury may also assign three special mentions to underline specific qualities of three films in the Competition.

    Music Videos (Musicanimata)

    Musicanimata I Castelli Animati – PIVI Award for Best Music Video

    "Fabrizio Bellocchio" Award for Social Content. All the films screened, in any category, will be judged by a Special Jury for the assignment of this award.

    I Castelli Animati, international animated film festival, is an event created and produced by the Association "Consorzio Imprese Castelli Romani". Founded in the area of the Castelli Romani, just south of Rome, the Association presents cultural initiatives at a national and international level for the promotion and the development of production divisions such as animated film, new technologies and cross media in general.
