THE GIJON INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL aims to present the newest trends of young cinema worldwide. The purpose is to show films featuring youngsters and their concerns in the lives they are living. Creative, innovative and independent films made under non-conventional rules by or for young people are screened in competitive categories which include:
The OFFICIAL SECTION- An International Jury formed by professionals of the film industry will award the following prizes:
"PRINCIPADO DE ASTURIAS" Prize to the best feature film (cash 20.000 Euros), “PRINCIPADO DE ASTURIAS” Prize to the best short film (cash 6.000 Euros), Best Director, Best Actress, Best Actor, Best Script, Prize GIL PARRONDO to the "BEST ART DIRECTION” and Special Jury Prize.
A Jury of 50 young people aged between 17 and 26 years old will award the following prizes: Prize Cajastur of the Young Jury to the best feature film (cash 10.000 Euros) Prize Cajastur of the Young Jury to the best short film (cash 6.000 Euros).
The audience will vote each film and the one that gets the highest score will be awarded the prize of its category:
10.000 Euros for the category of audience aged 6 to 12 years-old and 10.000 Euros for the category of audience aged 13 to 18 years-old.
AWARD FOR THE BEST DOCUMENTARY/NON FICTION FILM. With the collaboration of Karma Films, the festivals committee will award a prize of 10.000 Euros.
