  • Festival Description:

    Flickerfest, Australia’s premiere international short film festival, is held at Bondi Pavilion on Sydney’s famous Bondi Beach. Screening short fiction films, animation and documentaries, all which are under 35 minutes in length, the festival consists of a main competitive program, a short documentary competition, Australian competition and a number of additional programs and forums out of competition. Following the Festival in Sydney, the films in the main competitive programs go on tour around selected cities and regional centres of Australia. Started in 1995, Flickerfest's national tour has become a very important part of the festival. The tour takes the main competitive programs and some Special sessions to many regional and metropolitan areas which rarely have an opportunity to view a collection of the best of the world's short films.

    As Australia’s only AMPAS accredited short film festival, films in competition at Flickerfest compete for a number of prestigious prizes including:
