Festival Description:

The Films from the South Festival annually presents a selection of features, documentaries and short films from Asia, Africa and Latin America. Located in Oslo, it is Northern Europe‘s leading festival dedicated exclusively to these three continents. The main goal is to boost interest for films from these continents and provide openings for regular distribution in the market. The Films from the South Festival was initiated in Oslo in 1991.

Primarily funded by the Norwegian Foreign Ministry and The Municipal of Oslo, Films from the South is organised in cooperation with the Oslo Municipal Cinema (Norway`s largest cinema chain) and The Norwegian Film Institute.

At the Films from the South Festival directors, actors and producers from the three continents have the opportunity to present their films to Norwegian audiences and press. The festival‘s intimate atmosphere offers a perfect opportunity to receive a direct response to the work. Norwegian Film and TV distributors are available for appointments throughout the festival.
