  • Setúbal is the centre of a vast region of unique characteristics, both in its landscape, that greatly justifies its tourist vocation, and in its economic diversity, divided between traditional activities, such as fishing and agriculture, and the most modern industry.

Located 40 kilometres (30 miles) from Lisbon, the city is also the capital of the Setúbal district, which has a vast area between the rivers Tejo and Sado, constituting one of the most productive regions of the country’s central area.

Several cities in the district are currently developing an intense cultural activity, pointing out Almada, by the Tejo River, and Setúbal, on the shores of the Sado river.
