In a beautiful seaside Normandy resort, Deauville American Film Festival screens American films every August. The festival has been organized to increase the European audience for American cinema through an extensive presentation of new American films, to provide a showcase for world or European premieres of major American films, to contribute to the European promotion and marketing of American independent features, to celebrate the great American cinema of the past, through retrospectives and tributes to leading cinema figures and to provide a relaxed and comfortable setting for useful contacts between European and American industry people, in this renowned
There are four programs:
The Premieres (a section aimed at screening American feature films prior to their French theatrical release),
The Competition: Feature Films: a competitive section of 10 independent feature films aimed at revealing new filmmakers. A Jury composed of French film celebrities will award the following two prizes, including the Grand Prix and the Jury Prize.
The Panorama : a non-competitive section aimed at showcasing the variety of the American film production.
Les Docs de l’Oncle Sam (Uncle Sam Documentaries): a section aimed at showcasing the variety of the American documentary feature film production.
