Giving a space to creativity and freedom, preserving cultural diversity, allowing short film to get back into movie theatres, contributing to the emergence of new talents, giving the audience (big and little) the pleasure to (re)discover the treasures of short films who tells long stories : this is the editorial line of the festival from its creation.
The Festival Tous Courts, the international cinema festival of Aix-en-Provence and its region, is now beginning one of the major international cinematographic appointments. Short film is a real creation laboratory but also a permanent school of talents.
Since 24 years, the Festival Tous Courts seeks every year with the same ardour, films that illustrate the richness and diversity of international short film production.
It’s already well known for revealing new talents such as : Delphine Gleize, Eric Zonca, François Ozon, Laurent Cantet, Mathieu Kassovitz, Karim Dridi, Cédric Klapisch, Vincent Ravalec, Xavier Giannoli…
Through ten or so different programs, the festival offers more than 200 films, from contemporary young creation and heritage. Its international short film competition – more than 1200 submitted in 2006 -, its international short film market, its thematic and school programs, its artistic demand as well as its national and international collaborations impart to the festival a reputation that widely passed the borders. 34 countries were represented in 2006.
The bonds of trust and friendship strengthened year after year with numerous institutions and structures directly or indirectly linked to cinematographic industry create an area conducive to exchanges and partnerships.
