International and national features, shorts, documentaries, children's films and student films of all genres are considered for the festival program.   The festival also presents retrospectives dedicated to European Cinema and major directors.

To compliment the screening program, Premiers Plans organizes many events to encourage the exchange of ideas and concepts between the audience and industry professional guests.  To emphasize the diversity of the European cinema, Premiers Plans organizes workshops and seminars in which professionals in production and broadcasting can discuss and debate the most pressing questions and issues in their respective fields. Premiers Plans hosts events that help the discovery of new screenwriters and directors before the production of their first films by inviting professional actors to read in public their scripts.
