Festival Description:

International film festival Documentaries in Maribor - DokMa is dedicated to promoting jewels of documentary filmmaking, local and national documentary filmmaking and presenting international festival guests to Slovenian audiences.

The program consists of the following sections:

Main Program- Presents the great world achievements in contemporary documentary production, as chosen by the programme festival committee. We wish to cherish the special section for presenting inovative approaches in documentary film.

Competitive Interregional Retrospective- This is a program experiment focused on modern documentary production in european countries nonmemebers of EU. The award in this category will be decided by expert jury.

Great Documentaries- the festival present important documentary works from film history to make sure that the tradition and historical importance of art documentaries will not be forgoten. The insight in history of documentary film is always actual for the filmmakers and for wider expert and film loving public.

Parallels- Category Paralels is emerging at local, european and global level and is complementing Main and Competition programme.

Slovene Special- A special section to honor Slovene documentarist and producers who are working on theoretical and media establishment of the documentary film, which is still undervalued and dominated by the fiction film.
