  • Festival Description:

    The Festival is organized bearing in mind the complete certainty that “each woman, man, girl, and boy, to materialize her/his complete human potential must be aware of all her/his human, civil, cultural, economic, politic and social rights” (UN General Assembly Resolution 49/184) .

    The Festival aims to promote a forum for reflection and debate that highlights the issue of Human Rights in the world through the artistic interpretations of independently produced films and videos..

    The Festival provides a broad forum for political cinema, the promotion of individual rights and democratic liberties, and tolerance and respect for the rights of minorities. Similarly, it pays much attention to the social rights to work, and to have decent living conditions, and to all efforts tending to Solidarity.Finally, it also great interest in matters related to people's rights to self-determination, to cultural identity, to development and to live in a healthy environment.

    Selected works should reflect the Festival´s theme, describing and testifying to not only to violations of human rights and situations of crisis, but also the individual or collective search, expression and aesthetic that investigate the relationship of contemporary man to his social and natural environment.

    The Festival calls all independent film and videomakers that are sensitive to these concerns to submit their works and consider the Festival DerHumALC an environment for the diffusion of works that share these concerns. .

    The competition´s framework also includes debates, panel discussions, special film and video exhibitions, and meetings between the public and the film/videomakers, with the participation of specialists, noteworthy people in the field, and popular organizations. The festival invites social and non-governmental/non-profit organizations, universities, film schools and other organizations committed to the promotion of Human Development, to participate in the creation of special prizes that stimulate and support the work of film and videomakers interested in this theme.
