DOCNZ is a competitive film festival that screens local and international documentaries. Films compete for the DOCNZ DOCUMENTARY AWARDS in the short, medium and feature length categories. While DOCNZ welcomes all documentary films, it encourages films to be submitted for consideration under the theme MEDIA WATCH which relates to the impact of media in society including access, control, the shifting power bases between the traditional state run media to the corporate media giants to the individual with the emergence of new media and digital film-making.
