Annual Auburn International Film Festival for Children and Young Adults was conceived in 1998 to showcase, promote and distribute films in four categories; Best film made by children 6-14 years old, Best film made by young adults 15-22 year old as well as Best film made by adults about or for children, Best film made by adults about or for youth.
In 2006, the festival received over 350 works and presented 74 short and feature length films from 41 countries simultaneously at Reading Cinemas Auburn, Vernon Theatre Sydney Olympic Park and Homebush West Public School. Over 2000 students from schools in the Auburn LGA as well as greater Western Sydney region attended the festival and celebrated this most iconic and unique international event.
