  • Festival Description:

    CINESTRAT is a thematic international documentary film festival that deals with a different issue each edition. Cinestrat accepts documentaries and docudramas, specifically excluding any film with a marked  institutional, touristic or advertising character.

    CINESTRAT 2008 will focus on two very important issues for us all: Climate Change and the Decline of Fossil Energy Resources. During the eight day event, the festival will screen films which present themes related to: Nature, Energy, Industrialization, Consumer Society, Urbanism, Rural Life, Habitats, Climate and Sustainable Development

    CINESTRAT is a Film Festival with an International Competition, which has awards in cash that come up to a total of €12,000 distributed in various prizes.

    Prizes and Official Section of Documentaries:

    BEST DOCUMENTARY. Funding prize of  €7,000.00 and the PUIG DE PLATA award. The prize is to aid the independent production of documentaries and is awarded as a financial package for the next project of the winning Director, which has to be submitted within 9 months of the jury’s decision.

    CRITICAL LENS. The prize is a camcorder Pro HDV SONY FX 1E or similar for the filmmaker of the documentary with a content and focus that shows an accurate and perceptive critique on any of the themes in the CINESTRAT-2008 programme.

    SPECIAL MENTION OF THE JURY. There may be special mentions as seen fit by the jury, aimed at highlighting a certain aspect of a documentary, whether related to form or content.

    HONORIFIC MENTION GVA. PUIG DE PLATA. Presented by the Delegate of the Valencian Government, Mr. José Marín Guerrero.

    AUDIENCE AWARD. The prize is a painting by the international artist PHILIPPE DUPIEREUX, valued at 1,500.00 euros.

    SOLIDARITY AWARD. Funding prize of €3,000.00. Highlights the solidarity of a documentary or fiction film with a social group and its cause.
