CinemadaMare gathers filmmakers (directors, actors, technicians, films, screenwiters, editors and producers) every summer on the shores of the Mediterranean Sea at an event dedicated to young filmmakers from all over the world. Together they shoot movies and study cinema. They also have the chance to meet great names of the international cinema, sharing ideas and projects. The CinemadaMare Film Festival aims to be an unforgettable experience for all its participants.
Most CinemadaMare Film Festival participants are filmmakers, but the festival invitation is open also to actors, set and costume designers, make-up artists, screenwriters and all cinema lovers who will take the challenge of spending three weeks or more at the festival. The challenge consists in coming to Italy to live and work with young colleagues from 30 different countries, sharing everything, - rooms as well as targets, showers as well as stories, opportunities as well as inconveniences. Young filmmakers who have not tried a similar experience yet, will recognize the value added to their own work by the hands and minds of those surrounding them; those who already know the importance of cooperation will simply feel the spirit of being part or leaders of a team fully ready to help and work restlessly for the same reason: making movies - collective pieces of work.
CinemadaMare travels across the five main regions of the south of Italy. It is a 6 week-long festival that touches 6 cities. About 150 filmmakers travel with the festival itself, - on the festival bus - discovering each suggestive stop of the tour. In each city the participants have the possibility of both shooting and screening movies and attend seminars. The festival spends approximately one week in each city. As the festival progresses, about 7 competitions take place.
Other than working on their own movies during the CinemadaMare Film Festival, young filmmakers have also the opportunity of meeting Italian and international Media professionals. Among the most famous who attended the festival are: Wim Wenders (director), Mario Monicelli (director and screenwriter), Giuseppe Tornatore (director), Amos Gitai (director and screenwriter), Margarethe Von Trotta (director), Krzysztof Zanussi (director), Nicola Piovani (soundtrack composer), Lidia Ravera (screenwriter) and many more.
