Festival Description:

Cinema Verite: Iran International Documentary Film Festival is Iran's largest documentary film festival. The mission of the festival is to express the relationship between reality and truth through documentary films. Festival sections include: International Competition, National Competition, Market Production Fund, Retrospective, Tribute, Special Screenings and Mirror of a Festival.

Cinema Verite is organized each year in Tehran by the Documentary and Experimental Film Center (DEFC), a center for the production, distribution and promotion of fiction, documentary, animation and experimental films in the Middle East. DEFC produces about 25 long feature and 300 short films per year. In Iran, annually about 80 feature and 2500 professional and amateur short films are produced. DEFC co-produces documentary projects with foreign producers and as well provides films to festivals, film markets, TV Channels, theaters, universities, institutes and other organizations interested in Iranian fiction, documentary, animation, experimental and feature films.

Cinema Verite 2008 Film Awards

The Cinema Verite 2008 Documentary Film Festival International Jury awarded the following prizes:
1. The Grand Prix for best documentary longer than 60 mins. :10.000 Euros, Diploma and trophy of the festival
2. Best documentary up to 60 mins.: 7000 Euros, Diploma and trophy of the festival
3. Special prize of the jury: 5000 Euros, Diploma and trophy of the festival.

Competition +60’
The Grand Prix is given to two films: The Fortress by Fernand Melgar and Existence by Marcin Koszalka
The Special Mention award goes to : Tinar by (Mehdi Moniri)Iran
Special Jury award goes to ALL MY MOTHERS by Ebrahim Saeedi and Zahavi Sanjavi:
