    CINANIMA – The International Animated Film Festival of Espinho proudly presents to all animation lovers a diverse and vanguard program. Its main purpose is the promotion of animation cinema, aiming to conquer new audiences, encouraging the exchange of experiences between professionals and the audience and to call to distributors’ and TV networks’ attention to animation cinema. Besides the International Competitive Section the festival comprises numerous activities, such as workshops, debates, exhibitions, tours, special screenings and retrospectives.

    AWARDS include:

    INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION

    GRAND PRIZE CINANIMA -Granted by the International Jury to the Best Film in CINANIMA 2011.

    JURY’S SPECIAL PRIZE -Granted by the International Jury according to their own criteria.

    PRIZE FOR THE BEST FILM IN EACH CATEGORY -Granted by the International Jury to the Best Film in each category. The prize for the Best Short Film is named “Prize Alves Costa”; the prize for the “Best Graduation Film and or School Film” is named “Prize Gaston Roch”.

    PRIZE JOSÉ ABEL -Prize granted by the International Jury to the BEST ANIMATION of a European Film, sponsored by E-TOONS, in memory of the Portuguese director José Abel.

    PRIZE RTP2 - ONDA CURTA -Prize attributed by a Jury nominated by “RTP2”, the sponsor of the Prize, and by CINANIMA. It consists in the acquisition of the broadcasting rights of the film(s) awarded.

    PRIZE OF THE AUDIENCE -Special Prize awarded by the Audience in CINANIMA 2010, through vote.

    PRIZE FOR THE BEST ORIGINAL SOUNDTRACK -Prize attributed by a Special Jury assigned both by NUMÉRICA, the sponsor of the Prize, and the Festival’s Organising Committee

    PRIZE ANTÓNIO GAIO/ PRIZE FNAC – Best Film in National Competition, a Cash Award of EUR 500,00.

    PRIZE YOUNG PORTUGUESE DIRECTOR

    CINANIMA is well known for providing to its guests and the audience a pleasant, relaxed and familiar atmosphere. Espinho, the city that welcomes the festival every year, is a small seaside resort, located 17kms south of Oporto and it ie perfect for framing one of the oldest animation festivals in the world.

    The 35TH INTERNATIONAL ANIMATED FILM FESTIVAL OF ESPINHO – CINANIMA 2011 – is organised by NASCENTE and by the TOWN HALL OF ESPINHO with the support of the MINISTRY OF CULTURE, INSTITUTE OF CINEMA AND AUDIOVISUAL, MINISTRY OF YOUTH, PORTUGUESE INSTITUTE OF YOUTH, MINISTRY OF ECONOMY, MINISTRY OF TOURISM, and PARISH COUNCIL OF ESPINHO.
