The Carolina Film and Video Festival not only strives to provide emerging and independent filmmakers with their first break – hopefully a springboard to future success - but also to bring to the University of North Carolina Greensboro and Greensboro communities great films not otherwise available. To meet these goals, our program includes animated, narrative, documentary, and experimental films ranging from 2 minutes to 2 hours in length, and created by student and independent filmmakers from around the globe. In addition to our on-campus screenings and free daytime programs, the Carousel Cinema sponsors daily showings of our feature-length films as well as a Saturday Winners’s Night. Also this year, to demonstrate our commitment to North Carolina filmmakers, we have initiated a North Carolina Showcase.
CFVF invite student and independent filmmakers to submit their film or video works for our 2008 festival. We accept works of any length, from both student and independent filmmakers, divided into the following categories: narrative, documentary, experimental/animation, North Carolina, and high school. Films or videos must be completed no more than 18 months prior to the November 15 deadline. For rules and more information about submitting your film to next year’s festival, please visit our website: www.carolinafilmandvideo.org. North Carolina and student filmmakers enjoy reduced entry fees.
