The Brooklyn International Film Festival (BiFF), is an International, competitive festival for and by independent film makers. The BIFF mission is to discover, expose, and promote independent film makers while drawing worldwide attention to Brooklyn. BiFF has developed solid ties with major overseas film festivals and distribution companies as well as successfully pursuing international sponsorship. Locally, it is strongly connected to corporate entities such as Time Warner Cable; film companies such as Panavision, NY and Technicolor; as well as over one hundred small businesses. BiFF is supported by the New York State Council on the Arts.
BiFF's films have been showcased at the Brooklyn Museum, Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM), Steiner Studios, Cobble Hill Cinema, Brooklyn Heights Cinema, Galapagos Art Space, Brooklyn Public Library, Brooklyn Historical Society, Brooklyn Children's Museum, Commodore Theater, Havana Film Festival (Cuba), and at Palazzo delle Esposizioni and Museo Arte Contemporanea (Rome, Italy).
At the festival, through the resources of film sponsors such as Avid and Kodak among many others, BiFF will award the winners with prizes totaling over $100,000 in film services. And through the resources of organizations such as Independent Feature Project and International Film Seminar, BiFF keeps connecting filmmakers to the motion picture's corporate world.
The Brooklyn International Film Festival screens an international showcase of independent features and shorts in categories that include: Narrative, Experimental, Documentary, Animation.
