The International Cinema Corporation is the association that organizes the Film Festival of Bogota. An event that was born in 1984 to award the accomplishments of Colombian Cinema and little by little it extended to all the Andean Region, to the Caribbean, Europe and Asia. Finally, with the approbation from the FIAPF (International Federation of Film Producers Aassociations), organization that regulates the festivals as “Festivals specialized in New Directors”, the Film Festival of Bogota obtained its present world-wide characteristics, always having on its perspective the presence, promotion and diffusion of Colombian cinema.
In addition to cinema, the Festival embraces other categories as Video, Documentary, Art Documentary, Digital Cinema and Colombian Animation.
Through out twenty three years, the Film Festival of Bogota has displayed excellent movies on the international competition, in Retrospectives and Tributes and the best of Colombian productions regarding cinema, video and documentary. It also has given, by competent international and national juries, 195 awards among Pre-Columbian Gold Circles, Silver, and Bronze and 32 Honorable Mentions. It has distinguished the work of two documentary producers and has given 12 Special Distinctions to personalities that have represented landmarks on the recent history of Colombian cinema.
THE COMPETITION- The Festival rewards the best Opera Prima at an international level with the Pre-Columbian Circle Award in Gold, Silver and Bronze categories and the Pre-Columbian Gold Circle to the best director of an Opera Prima, making a selection from the first 3 feature films of a director that has not yet made his fourth one.
At national level, the Pre-Columbian Gold Circle is given to the best Colombian Film and Fiction Video. This year the Festival rewards the best international documentary and the best documentary on art.
SPECIAL AWARD- A consideration is given to a person or entity, which has been distinguished for its contribution to the national and international film development.
