BUSTER is an international film festival for children and youth that attracts a large audience while creating a forum for international film professionals. The festival consists of an international and nordic selection of new films for children and youth including features, shorts, documentaries, and animation films. Besides the screenings there are workshops where children can learn filmmaking. BUSTER organises "Professional Days", the official children and youth film meeting for film professionals. The Competitions include:
Best Film for Children (chosen by the international jury, 3.000 euro)
Best BUSTER (chosen by the children's jury, 3.000 euro)
Best Child Actor/Actress (chosen by the children's jury, 1.000 euro)
Best Film for Youth (chosen by the youth jury, 3.000 euro)
Best Short Film (Chosen by the short and documentary jury, 2.000 euro)
Best Documentary (Chosen by the short and documentary jury, 2.000 euro)
In the spring of 1999 the Centre of Children and Youth Film at the Danish Film Institute assembled a group that created the foundation for BUSTER and at the same time founded the BUSTER Foundation with support from the Danish Film Institute. BUSTER is now organized and managed by festival director Füsun Eriksen in cooperation with a board of directors and is a part of Copenhagen Film Festivals, which also organizes CPH:PIX and CPH:DOX. The director of Copenhagen Film Festivals is Jørgen Ramskov.
