Festival Description:

Annecy, France is the site of the world's best known international animation festival. For over 45 years the six-day festival has been screening the world's finest works in the art of animation.

Annecy's competition is open to the following 4 categories for films using different animation techniques: feature films, short films, commissioned and TV films, and graduation films.

The Festival also includes: film premieres, retrospectives and exhibitions, and offers screenings from 10.30 am to 11 pm, in 8 theatres around the town, and evening screenings by the lake on a giant screen. Its capacity to present and promote animation in all its different forms has made Annecy a world-wide point of reference for the animation industry.

Situated near the International Animated Film Festival in the Centre de Congrès de L'Impérial Palace, MIFA (the International Animated Film Market) is the only specialized trade fair in the world that brings together the animation industry for all broadcasting mediums.
MIFA includes an exhibition area for the main players in the industry (institutional, training organizations, hard and software manufacturers, production companies, studios, TV channels etc.),
A Chill Out area which provides a comfortable and friendly space and a restaurant service and bar with a terrace overlooking the lake which is area is open to all Festival and MIFA badge holders to meet up with fellow attendees.

A digital video library is exclusively reserved for MIFA badge holders, this area offers an à la carte digital screening service of all the films in the official competition, individually or by program, as well as all productions from MIFA attendees.

The Buyers Club is exclusively reserved for buyers and offers the following services:
- priority access to the digital video library;
- a unit with Internet access;
- a hostess to handle enquiries and organize appointments;

Conferences complement the Festival and Market program by giving the different animation sectors a place of opportunity to exchange ideas, information and collective reflection about technical, economic and artistic issues. The international speakers are all established names who have accepted to share their expertise with the Annecy public. The subjects up for discussion are cross related, covering different traditional or innovative techniques and actual or emerging markets, making these conferences the perfect occasion to explore and understand the issues of today and tomorrow.

THE MIFA 2007 Headline Report

CITIA, the Festival and Mifa organiser, and its
team would like to thank all the sponsors and participants for helping make the 2007 Festival such a memorable one.

Mifa 2007 headline report

The 17th Mifa took place from 13th - 15th June 2007 With new energy introduced by the organising team 3 recruitment sessions were held (DreamWorks, Disney, Marathon...) along with some very fruitful discussion between artists, directors (Rintaro, Carlos Saldanha, Bibo Bergeron...) and decision-makers.

The professional conferences attracted large numbers of public from the first day, whether for topics to do with feature fi lm making, writing for animation or ‘making-ofs’ (Persepolis, Surf’s Up, Shrek III).

Running in parallel with Mifa, various other happenings punctuated the three day gathering: opening party sponsored by Fondation Groupama Gan for the cinema, Creators party sponsored by Autodesk, Mifa opening party co-organised with the Benelux (Film Fund Luxembourg, Flanders Image, NIAF and Wallonie Buxelles
Images), Cocktails (Imaginove, Arte, Argentine Film Commission, Nerima, Marathon...), “Les Espoirs de l’animation” (Canal Junior/ SPFA), and a press conference held by Joann Sfar about his Le Chat du Rabbin feature film project...

The next Festival paying tribute to India will take place from 9 to 14 June 2008.
