ANIMA – Córdoba Animation Festival is an international, cultural and educational event specifically dedicated to the art and techniques of animation. Its periodicity is biennial, it is the only event in Argentina that focuses animation as its main subject, and the second in importance in Latin America.
The Festival is open to animation films of every genre, topic, format and screening media (film, video, television, Internet). Special interest is granted to those works where the filmmaker’s expressive intention stands out from marketing requirements; and also to school productions. Participation is open for artists all over the world, with special interest in those from Latin America. There is no limit in the number of works an author can send.

Animated Stories Animated shorts with a strong narrative profile.
Themes and Rhythms Animated shorts with a strong experimental and/or abstract interest.

Animated TV Series for adults

Juries and Distinctions
International Jury Awards
The Centro Experimental de Animación will name a Jury, which shall be integrated by three persons of whom at least one must not be a natural from Argentina. Each member of the Jury must have considerable background regarding the art of animation. The Jury will award the following distinctions, and its decisions are final:
● Grand Jury Prize
● Best Animation for each of the competitive categories.
Besides the distinctions mentioned before, the Jury may also award Special Mentions in its criteria.
Argentine Jury Award
The Centro Experimental de Animación will name a Jury integrated by representatives of the Argentine Animation panorama. This Jury will award the Best Argentine Animation selected for the Festival’s categories. The Argentine Jury may also award Special Mentions, and its decisions are final.
Student Jury Award
The Centro Experimental de Animación will name a Jury integrated by students of the Dept. of Film and Television, University of Córdoba. This Student Jury will award the Best Student Animation to an in – competition production proceeding from a Film, Video or Animation School. The Student Jury’s decisions are final.
Audience Award
The Audience Award will be handed to the film – selected for competition – that achieves the largest percentage of votes by the audience.
The directors of the awarded films will receive a statue of “Elña”, the Festival’s mascot, and a Diploma.
The festival is organized by the Centro Experimental de Animación (University of Córdoba, Argentina) and the Centro Cultural España Åú Córdoba (City of Córdoba). These organizing institutions bring to ANIMA an academic / cultural duality, which is related to ANIMA´s main objectives: To support the recognition of the art of animation, both in its technical and cultural diversity and to generate a space for reflection, encounter and exchange among the different areas that, from their particular activities, contribute to cultural industries.
