The Anchorage International Film Festival (AIFF) is a distinctly Alaskan 14-day film festival that brings cinema and media artists to Anchorage from all over the world, featuring Films Worth Freezing For. AIFF screens work from emerging and established filmmakers and the festival's organizers have three theaters running film (or high-def electronic data) simultaneously on most nights, screening independently produced full-length movies ranging from comedy to thriller with specialized programs for Animation, Family films, Documentaries and Shorts. The Bear Tooth Theatrepub is the festival's premiere venue. Other venues include the Anchorage Museum at Rasmuson Center, The Alaska Experience Theatre at the 4th Avenue Marketplace, Out North Theatre and the Wilda Marston Theatre at the Loussac Library.
Founded as a program of the Alaska Moving Image Preservation Association, AIFF was reorganized in 2009 as a new 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation. The Anchorage International Film Festival is not just about film; the festival explores cultures, diversity, techniques and having a good time.
